WCQ206 From Broadway to Graceland
2008-05-05

Host: Amy Matheny with co-host Colman DomingoAmy and Colman start us off on this fun-filled Queercast. We have many adventures to take you on so hold onto something. Madonna gave a free 30 minute concert in NYC. OK, who has seen the sidesplitting reactions on YouTube to the infamous 2 Girls 1 Cup video? You MUST check some of them out! Tummies beware…

Next, Amy and Kelli take us on a tour of Memphis, Tennessee. Who knew Kelli was such an Elvis fan! Her enthusiasm at Graceland is truly endearing.

Mark Nadler is in town performing his comedy-in-music adventure, Russian on the Side. He has been compared to comedic legends such as Victor Borge and performers like Danny Kaye, so stop by the Royal George Theatre. For tickets call 312-988-9000 or go online to http://www.russianonthesideonline.com

Colman gives us his final comments on Mariah Carey and her marriage to Drumline's Nick Cannon. Can someone say prenup? Oy, the crazy life of Mimi…

LUCY V.: Kelli was funny talking about Elvis.... good stuff. I agree that MC is off her rocker..... no pre-nup?? That's crazy talk!

james: OK, this may be weird, but i am really liking how the podcast has been edited as of late. I really like the before the show introduction by amy and i liked how on this show [as opposed to past shows] amy and colman came back to wrap everything up. Only other thing is i'm wondering if i'm alone when i hear 'i'm amy matheny...' i expect, you know, someone else to pop up after that and say 'and i'm ...' maybe you should have the guestsesses record their own 'and i'm alexandra billings' or 'and i'm colman domingo,' etc. just a thought. thanks for making my hellish, horrible rides to work on the red/brown lines bearable.

amy: Thanks James for noticing our changes! Yes Di-Lish, our new editor, is doing an amazing job keeping up with all my new little segments. The goal is to showcase more voices from the Windy City Queercast family. And to take you around with me more as I travel and explore events. Of course Di gets the brunt of that work --- so I am sure she will LOVE that you are enjoying it! I agree too that the new Wrap-Up is an essential way to end the show. It is something that you will see from now on. As well as the Preview at the beginning of the show. Thanks to listener Michael for that suggestion! We do love our listeners ideas and comments. We will determine if we can edit in our other hosts at the top Intro (not sure, but it is a great idea!) Glad you take us with you on the Red and Brown Line trips. Have a wonderful Memorial Day!

Di-Lish: James - Being the new kid on the block, I do love that you're liking what you're hearing. Amy has been throwing me curves with new segments but they've been fun challenges for me. I'm always up for them because they usually mean good things for the show. Thanks for taking some time out of your day to write to us. We really appreciate it! :)

Jeff s: Hi Amy! I loved the memphis show w/ kelly and the jew guy from Iowa..I geuss we will never be on tour together..He does more theatrical numbers and not AI ones...Speaking of which, didn't you like outcome of the real AI?...George Michael looks good..I love the song "Praying for Time"..We all need some time to get through these difficult times. I will see u thurs at wild card idol...Mariah is foolish to not sigh a pre-nup..I hope she dont loose millions on it because so...Jeff
