I simply LOVE So You think You Can Dance. It showcases such talent and
emotion and diversity. But then I watch your premiere last night.
HOW can you continue to allow Nigel to perpetuate homophobic remarks season after season? Enough is enough.
"You need to butch up"
"I'd like to see you dance with a girl"
"you dance like a man"
I am over it! Unacceptable.
There are many GLBT people in the world of dance - Michael Bennett, Mark Morris, Alvin Ailey, Jerome Robbins -- perhaps he has heard of them. And it is offensive to the youth of today impressionable when watching that show.
Would he say, "you dance too black" or "you need to white it up"...or tell a girl "don't dance like a guy"
He needs to change.....NOW.
Dance is a world of inclusion, an extension of one's soul and diversity of one's spirit.
Come on Nigel. I expect better than you. We ALL should.
jeff S: Hi Amy!
Well,Ellen D is one of the judges now on AI.I dont think they are as homophobic as u think..But,their other shows would stem to differ as they portray mostly straight white characters.I understand where this ie derived from and I hope they stop.Let Ellen deGeneres start speaking up for us as she judges new talent in the big show this upcoming season-American idol.Maybe, this will drive the network to do more shows featuring at least 10% GBLT actors/actresses.
I hope all is well and can enlighten me on the upcoming schedule...truly yours, jeff S
